Elimite USES
ELIMITE Cream (permethrin 5%) is a topical scabicidal
agent for the treatment of infestation with Sarcoptes
Scabiei (scabies), and is active against a broad
range of pests including lice, ticks, fleas, mites,
and other arthropods. Elimite is for use on the
skin only. Apply carefully to the affected area
as directed avoiding the eyes, nose and mouth.
Massage Elimite into the skin. After 8 to 14 hours,
wash off the cream.
Elimite DIRECTIONS
Elimite is for adults and children age 2 years
and older. Elimite may be used for short or intermittent
long periods of treatment, as directed by your
doctor. You can use it on all affected areas of
your skin, including your face and neck.Use Elimite
exactly as directed by your doctor. If you do not
understand these directions, ask your pharmacist,
nurse, or doctor to explain them to you.
Elimite SIDE EFFECTS
Itching, tingling, numbness, redness or irritation
may occur with Elimite use. If these effects continue,
inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop:
a skin rash, burning or swelling skin. If you notice
other Elimite effects not listed above, contact
your doctor or pharmacist.
Elimite PRECAUTIONS
Tell your doctor if you have: other illnesses,
any allergies. Elimite should be used only if clearly
needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and
benefits with your doctor. It is not known if Elimite
appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before
breast-feeding.
Elimite DRUG INTERACTIONS
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription
meds you may use, especially of: carbamazepine,
narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), drugs
used to aid sleep, antidepressants (e.g., SSRI-types
such as fluoxetine or fluvoxamine), MAO inhibitors
(e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, procarbazine,
selegiline, tranylcypromine), psychiatric medicine
(e.g., nefazodone), "triptan"-type drugs, anti-anxiety
drugs (e.g., diazepam), sibutramine. Also, report
use of certain antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine)
which are also present in many cough-and-cold products.
Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor
or pharmacist approval.
Elimite OVERDOSE
If Elimite overdose is suspected, contact your
local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
US residents can call the US national poison hotline
at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call
their local poison control center directly. Elimite
may be harmful if swallowed. Symptoms of overdose
may include dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea,
vomiting, headache, weakness, seizures, and loss
of consciousness.
Elimite NOTES
One application of Elimite is usually all that
is needed. Flush eyes with water immediately should
the medication come into contact with your eyes.
Elimite STORAGE
Store Elimite at room temperature between 36 and
77 degrees F (2 -25 degrees C) away from light
and moisture.
