Albenza USES
Albenza is indicated for the treatment of parenchymal
neurocysticercosis due to active lesions caused by
larval forms of the pork tapeworm. Albenza may also
be used for the treatment of cystic hydatid disease
of the liver, lung, and peritoneum, caused by the
larval form of the dog tapeworm.
Albenza DIRECTIONS
Albenza should be taken with food. Follow the directions
on your prescription label carefully, and ask your
doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not
understand. Take Albenza exactly as directed. Do
not take more or less of it or take it more often
than prescribed by your doctor.
Albenza SIDE EFFECTS
The symptoms are usually mild and resolved without
treatment.
Albenza PRECAUTIONS
Albenza may cause fetal harm, therefore, you should
begin treatment after a negative pregnancy test.
During therapy, because of the possibility of harm
to the liver or bone marrow, routine (every 2 weeks)
monitoring of blood counts and liver function tests
should take place. Talk to your doctor about possible
harm to the fetus if you plan on becoming pregnant
while on Albenza or within 1 month of completing
treatment.
Albenza OVERDOSE
In case of overdose, call your local poison control
center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed
or is not breathing, call local emergency services
at 911.
Albenza NOTES
If you suffer of hypersensitivity to the benzimidazole
class of compounds or any components of Albenza,
talk to your doctor before taking Albenza.
MISSED DOSE
If you miss a dose, use Albenza as soon as you remember.
If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the
missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
Albenza STORAGE
Store Albenza at room temperature between 36 and
77 degrees F (2 -25 degrees C) away from light and
moisture. Keep Albenza in the container it came in,
tightly closed, and out of reach of children.
